Dealing with resistances in real life, discussion of clinical cases

Sessions to discuss clinical cases are held to improve the experts' knowledge about delaing with HIV-patients' resistances. Each case is discusses in a presential session with a reduced number od MDs and the experts Jonathan Schapiro y Bonaventura Clotet.

Thinking about eradication: Is it possible now?

Mario Stevenson MD, from Masachussets' University, and other experts, offered their point of view about the possibility of erradicating HIV. This conference could be followed in life thanks to video-conference system, from Madrid, Valencia, Zaragoza or Bilbao, for example. Call-conferences on resistances, presential meeting

Call-conferences on resistances are a kind of telephone clinical sessions addressing clinical cases on resistance to antiretroviral treatment.The cases are reviewed by three experts before the teleconference: Dr. Jonathan Schapiro (Stanford University), Dr. Santiago Moreno (Hospital Ramón y Cajal) and Dr. Bonaventura Clotet (Hospital Germans Trias). During the teleconference, the participants discuss the case and a decision is taken on a treatment proposal.

Call Conferences on resistances are organized by FLS and Fundació IrsiCaixa, and promoted by Glaxo Smithkline (GSK), Gilead, Janssen-Cilag Division Tibotec and Siemens.

HIV INTENSIVE UPDATE

Fundació Lluita contra la Sida and Fundació IrsiCaixa offer intensive two days lenght courses in which pharmaceutic industry professionals can have an "immersion" in the world of HIV. The aim of these courses is to offer them a trainig and an update in HIV infection that allow them to develop their job with an excellent knowledge of what is currently relevant about the illness and its treatment.

RESISTANCES HANDLING IN REAL LIFE: Clinical cases discussion

Clinical cases discussion sessions are prepared to improve specialists' knowledge about resistances handling in HIV patients. Each case is discussed in a presential session with a reduced number of MD and experts Jonathan Schapiro and Bonaventura Clotet.

Discussion of clinical cases with Tipranavir and patient's handling according to resistances profile

The discussion of clinical cases about Tipranavir is raised as a space inspired in a clinical session with MD's that take care of HIV patients dayly whose resistances profile will determinate the treatment. MD suggests a not solved real case before the reunion in which the use of Tipranavir is being assessed. This case will be live discussed in a session with the rest of MD's, professor Carlo F. Perno and Bonaventura Clotet. Together, an agreement will be reached to recommend a treatment for each case.
